Love it. I’m taking a Substack course and there is a similar recommendation in it. Post a note every day and like 10 others. Let’s do it. Note, I do the same on Medium and the engagement works there too and makes the user experience rewarding. Although the algorithms there have left me penniless. 😬
It's completely different than here because there you are provided with a built in audience whereas here it's hoping someone subscribes else you are lost in space. haha. Medium is for writers only. Here you can do multimedia stuff like podcasts. Medium is much easier to navigate. So, those are my high level pros and cons. :)
My only issue is how many media platforms there are and having to learn how to engage. Substack isn't new, but it's new to me. So now I have to learn what Restacking is, and how it affects the people I want to engage with. Then there's Medium, which I see others mention here. I got off Insta because I have a media addiction and anything that I can doomscroll through, I do. So I have to be very, very careful how I engage in any of these platforms. I can hand out likes/hearts all I want, but I have to protect my time and emotional engagement as well. And eventually, I have to figure out how to promote my own side business if I want it to thrive and it feels completely and utterly overwhelming due to all the noise of all the different "mediums" there are to do this.

However, I also appreciate the sentiment that we, as a tribe, need to actually support our tribe and not just be silent observers.
I think timeboxing to protect time is a wise strategy for everyone when it comes to social media, even Substack. I make sure that my timebox allows for engagement in addition to scrolling and reading.
Thank you for the thoughtful response. I've been reshaping my SM habits, concentrating mostly here and LinkedIn where my focus is on launching my bookkeeping practice. I'm pretty much over IG, even with 3 accounts of my own.
I often think about the silent readers. Sometimes it's hard when you are feeling a bit down, and you are not seeing any visible "results". But then once in a while, I get a random DM from a total stranger who I've never seen engaging before telling me something super nice... and I remember that all those "impressions" and "views" from the dashboard all have a pair of eyes ❤️

Awesome! I dabbled in Medium some but never gave it a fair shake. I'm only now dedicating real time an effort on writing.
